Damage picture; suction damage and secretion of honeydew in which secondary fungi, like sotimould, may grow. Virus transmission.

CROP PROTECTING AGENTS

ENCARSIA formosa parasitic wasp
Duration of development; egg-adult, at 20șC ± 21 days.
Parasitizes the 2nd, 3rd and 4th larva stage of the whitefly. The pupas turn black within 10 days after being parasitized.

MACROLOPHUS caliginosus assassin bug
Duration of development; egg-adult, at 25șC ± 30 days.
It feeds on different insects such as red spider mites and aphids in their various stages of development. Prefers whitefly larvae and eggs.

ERETMOCERUS eremicus parasitic wasp
Duration of development; egg-adult, at 20șC ± 22 days.
The parasitizing behaviour is similar to that of Encarsia. For an optimal effect, however, the temperature must be continuously 24șC or higher. The pupas turn yellow.
