Photo: Damage by thrips.

Duration of development; egg-adult, at 25șC ± 15 days.
Damage picture; thrips cause suction damage to leaves, flowers and fruits (especially on the ovary). The damage caused by virus transmission can be enormous.

CROP PROTECTING AGENTS

AMBLYSEIUS cucumeris predatory mite
Duration of development; egg-adult, at 25șC ± 9 days.
By sucking out the youngest larva stage, this predatory mite keeps the thrips population on a low level.

AMBLYSEIUS degenerans pradatory mite
Duration of development; egg-adult, at 25șC ± 8 days.
This predatory mite is very fast in seeking the young thrips' larvae as preys and can easily be noticed because of its colour. Also with a low relative air humidity, it will keep on growing and working; even faster than the A. cucumeris.

ORIUS spp assassin bug
Orius insidiosus, Orius laevigatus, Orius majusculus

Duration of development; egg-adult, at 20șC ± 33 days.
All stages of the different kinds of Orius are used for the thrips control. This assassin bug is a fast predator, which can also feed on other insects and pollen, if no thrips are available.
